EIDA, an initiative within ORFEUS, is a distributed federation of datacenters established to securely archive seismic waveform data and metadata gathered by European research infrastructures, and provide transparent access to data for the geosciences research communities. EIDA’s organization and management is handled by the EIDA Management Board. The EIDA nodes are data centres that collect and archive data from seismic networks deploying broad-band sensors, short period sensors, accelerometers, infrasound sensors, and other geophysical instruments.

ARISE combines for the first time international networks with complementary technologies such as infrasound, lidar, airglow, radar systems, ionospheric observations and satellites. This joint network provides advanced data products used as benchmarks for weather forecast models. The ARISE network also allows enhanced and detailed observations of other extreme events in the Earth system, such as erupting volcanoes, magnetic storms, tornadoes and tropical thunderstorms, for a better understanding of underlying physical processes and future monitoring for civil applications.

The information system PANGAEA is operated as an Open Access library aimed at archiving, publishing and distributing georeferenced data from earth system research. The system guarantees long-term availability of its content through a commitment of the hosting institutions.

Most of the data are freely available and can be used under the terms of the license mentioned on the data set description. A few password protected data sets are under moratorium from ongoing projects. The description of each data set is always visible and includes the principle investigator (PI) who may be asked for access.

OSPAR is the mechanism by which 15 Governments & the EU cooperate to protect the marine environment of the North-East Atlantic.

OSPAR started in 1972 with the Oslo Convention against dumping and was broadened to cover land-based sources of marine pollution and the offshore industry by the Paris Convention of 1974. These two conventions were unified, up-dated and extended by the 1992 OSPAR Convention. The new annex on biodiversity and ecosystems was adopted in 1998 to cover non-polluting human activities that can adversely affect the sea.

The ESPON EGTC is a European Grouping on Territorial Cooperation. ESPON started in 2002 and have continued since then building a pan-European knowledge base related to territorial dynamics.

The new EUMETSAT Data Store can be accessed through the Earth Observation Portal or directly via https://data.eumetsat.int. To get the most out of the service, new users will require a user registration, and the EUMETSAT Data Policy applies. Existing users will be able to use their current Earth Observation Portal credentials to access the new data access services.

As well as the web interface (pictured at the top of the page), you can also access the EUMETSAT Data Store using four different APIs that support downloading, the ability to search products based on collections and filter based on date, your region of interest, timeliness, and coverage. There is a subscription API (be available in the near future) which will notify you of new product availability.
